Bangladesh Embassy Strengthens Ties Through ‘Mango Diplomacy’ Initiative
Kathmandu — In a unique display of goodwill and friendship, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu has distributed more than 1,750 kilograms of premium Bangladeshi mangoes among distinguished personalities across Nepal under its annual “Season’s Best Compliments” initiative.
The diplomatic gesture, popularly referred to as “Mango Diplomacy,” saw the Embassy present carefully selected mangoes to over 360 recipients, including the Right Hon’ble President of Nepal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, members of the Council of Ministers, senior government officials, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic community, business leaders, civil society representatives, and long-standing friends of Bangladesh.
Embassy officials undertook extensive efforts to ensure the successful delivery of the mango packages to recipients throughout Kathmandu and beyond. The initiative was aimed at fostering goodwill and further strengthening the close relations between Bangladesh and Nepal.
The mangoes were freshly harvested from renowned orchards in Chapai Nawabganj, widely known as the mango capital of Bangladesh. To preserve their quality and freshness, the fruit was transported to Nepal through Banglabandha Port, Fullbari Land Port on the Siliguri border, and Kakarbhitta Port.
The consignment featured the highly prized Khirshapat variety, a Geographical Indication (GI)-certified mango celebrated for its exceptional taste and widely regarded as one of the finest mango varieties in the Indian subcontinent.
According to the Embassy, the initiative reflects the enduring friendship and strong people-to-people connections between Bangladesh and Nepal. The symbolic exchange of one of Bangladesh’s most cherished seasonal fruits serves as a reminder of the warmth, mutual respect, and cultural affinity shared by the two neighboring countries.
The Embassy of Bangladesh expressed its sincere appreciation to all individuals and organizations whose support contributed to the successful implementation of this year’s Mango Diplomacy program in Nepal.
As diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Nepal continue to flourish, such cultural and goodwill initiatives play an important role in deepening mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral ties between the two friendly nations.
