August 18th, 2026

Kathmandu — IME Life Insurance Company Limited has completed nine years of life insurance operations and entered its 10th year today. The company formally began life insurance business on August 17, 2017, and has expanded significantly over the past nine years. According to its unaudited fourth-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2025/26, IME Life ranked first among Nepal’s 14 life insurance companies in terms of net profit.

IME Life posted a net profit of NPR 584.24 million in the last fiscal year, the highest among the 14 life insurers. The sector as a whole recorded a combined net profit of around NPR 5.44 billion, down more than 10 percent from the previous year. Despite the decline across the sector, IME Life managed to keep its profit largely stable and emerged as the most profitable life insurer.

The company’s business expansion has been even more notable. Net premium income increased from NPR 5.49 billion in fiscal year 2024/25 to NPR 7.46 billion in 2025/26, a growth of 35.82 percent. Total premium collection also increased from NPR 5.65 billion to NPR 7.74 billion.

The company recorded strong growth in new business as well. First-year premium, including single-premium business, reached NPR 3.06 billion, up nearly 55 percent from NPR 1.97 billion a year earlier. Renewal premium also increased from NPR 3.68 billion to NPR 4.68 billion. The number of active policies rose to 518,093 by the end of Ashadh 2026, compared with 474,255 a year earlier. During the year, the company issued 264,549 new policies.

IME Life’s life insurance fund, a key indicator of its long-term financial strength, grew by nearly 39 percent to NPR 18.27 billion. Its total investments increased from NPR 17.67 billion to NPR 23.29 billion, while total assets reached NPR 26.80 billion. Despite pressure on investment income from declining interest rates, income from investments and loans stood at NPR 1.38 billion. The company paid NPR 1.47 billion in total claims and benefits to policyholders during the year.

The company is chaired by Dr. Ram Hari Aryal, with Usha Dhakal, Binod K.C., Sitaram Thapa, Sandeep Agrawal and Sunil Kumar Pokharel serving as board members. Pawan Kumar Khadka is the Chief Executive Officer, while Khilendra Poudel serves as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Sudeep Rana heads underwriting, among other members of the management team.

To mark its anniversary, the company said it will organize various corporate social responsibility activities through its branch offices across the country. In previous years, IME Life has marked its anniversaries through blood donation drives, health camps and insurance awareness programs.

As IME Life enters its 10th year, the company has positioned itself as a growing and increasingly competitive player in Nepal’s life insurance market. On its ninth anniversary, the company also expressed its commitment to delivering greater value to policyholders and investors in the years ahead.
