FNJ Koshi Launches Accident Insurance for 1,227 Journalists to Boost Field Safety

Kathmandu — The Koshi Province chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has launched an accident insurance program covering 1,227 journalists working across the province, aiming to strengthen their professional and social security. The insurance program was formally launched at a special event organized by the FNJ Koshi Province at Hotel Rubies.

The event was held under the chief guest of Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, with the head of the Nepal Insurance Authority’s Koshi Province Office attending as a special guest. Discussions at the event focused on the safety of journalists, risk management and the importance of insurance for those working in the journalism sector.

Speaking at the event, the head of the Nepal Insurance Authority’s Koshi Province Office said accident insurance was important for the professional safety of journalists, who often work in potentially risky situations while gathering and reporting news.

He said journalists working in the field can be exposed to accidents and other unforeseen risks, making insurance an important instrument of social security.

He further emphasized the need to expand access to accident insurance to reduce risks and strengthen the social security of journalists, and expressed the Nepal Insurance Authority’s commitment to continuing the necessary support and facilitation to broaden insurance coverage.
