Pakistan Extends Condolences to Nepal Over Deadly Flash Floods

Islamabad — Pakistan’s top leadership has expressed grief and solidarity with Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides that struck the country’s northern region near the Tibet border, claiming lives and causing widespread destruction.

President Asif Ali Zardari conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of life and damage caused by the disaster. In a statement, the President extended Pakistan’s sympathies to the families of the bereaved and expressed solidarity with the people and government of Nepal. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and the safe return of those still unaccounted for.

Echoing similar sentiments, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said he was “deeply distressed” by the toll of the disaster. In a message posted on social media, Dar offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, and prayed for the safe return of those still missing.

Dar affirmed that Pakistan stands firmly with the government and people of Nepal “in this difficult hour” and reiterated the country’s readiness to extend all possible assistance in the aftermath of the disaster.

The flash floods and mudslides have caused significant casualties and damage in northern Nepal, prompting an outpouring of international condolences and offers of support.
