Nepali Insurance Companies Pledge Over NPR 53 Million to Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund
Kathmandu — Five of Nepal’s leading life insurance companies have come forward with a combined pledge of more than NPR 53 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, established by the Government of Nepal to support rescue, relief, rehabilitation and humanitarian assistance for communities devastated by the floods along the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district.
The severe flooding, which struck on Bhadra 10, has caused significant loss of life and property across riverside areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan. Dozens of people have reportedly lost their lives, many remain missing, and hundreds of families have been displaced after settlements and infrastructure were destroyed. Rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts are continuing in the affected areas.
Nepal Life: NPR 25.1 Million
Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited made the largest contribution among the companies, providing NPR 25.1 million in financial assistance. The cheque was jointly handed over by company Director Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, former Chairman Govindlal Sanghai and Chief Executive Officer Praveen Raman Parajuli. The company said the funds would provide additional support for immediate rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts, and it urged other citizens to contribute according to their capacity and means.
IME Life: NPR 10 Million
IME Life Insurance Company Limited announced a contribution of NPR 10 million to support immediate rescue, relief and long-term rehabilitation. The company said it has consistently supported national crises, natural disasters and pandemics since its establishment, and expressed confidence that its contribution would aid search-and-rescue operations, food supplies, healthcare and rehabilitation efforts.
Asian Life: NPR 10.1 Million
Asian Life Insurance pledged NPR 10.1 million under its corporate social responsibility initiative, with funds directed toward relief for displaced families, community rehabilitation, and the rescue and treatment of the injured.
Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance: NPR 5.1 Million
Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance Limited pledged NPR 5.1 million following a Board of Directors decision issued on Bhadra 11. Citing its motto, “Dhuk Dhuk Haina, Dhukka Hou (Not anxiety, but comfort),” the company said it has a history of supporting the country through national crises and expressed confidence its contribution would aid search-and-rescue, food supplies, healthcare and rehabilitation work.
MetLife Nepal: NPR 3 Million
MetLife Nepal contributed NPR 3 million to the fund, expressing solidarity with the Government of Nepal, rescue personnel, humanitarian organizations and all others involved in the response effort.

Across all five companies, the message was consistent: deep condolences to the families of victims, tribute to those who lost their lives, wishes for the swift recovery of the injured and the safe rescue of those still missing, and gratitude to the security personnel, volunteers and agencies working around the clock in the affected districts. Each company framed its contribution as part of its broader corporate social responsibility commitment, pledging continued support to the government and affected communities as relief and rehabilitation work continues.
