Pakistan PM Visits Nepal Embassy, Offers Condolences for Flood Victims

Kathmandu — Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has conveyed deep sorrow to Nepal over the heavy loss of life and property caused by the recent floods and landslides that struck the country.

Sharif visited the Nepalese Embassy in Islamabad on Thursday, where he met with Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Rita Dhital, to formally extend his condolences.

During the meeting, the Pakistani premier paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster and expressed sympathy to their bereaved families, according to the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.

Sharif also signed the condolence book kept at the embassy, leaving a written message expressing his sympathy toward Nepal during this difficult time.

The floods, which struck Nepal on August 26, have prompted a continuing wave of sympathy from the international community, with governments and organizations extending condolences and pledging relief assistance as Nepal works to recover from the disaster.
