Life Insurers’ Business Grows 33%; Rastriya Jeevan Beema and IME Lead Growth
Kathmandu — Life insurance companies generated more than NPR 26 billion in insurance business in the first month of the current fiscal year 2026/87. According to data published by the Nepal Insurance Authority, 14 operating life insurance companies collected total premiums of NPR 26.2251 billion in July 2026.
In July 2025, life insurance companies had collected NPR 19.6533 billion in premiums. On this basis, life insurers’ business grew by 33.44 percent during the review period.
Nepal Life Insurance led in terms of total premium collection. The company collected NPR 6.9931 billion in premiums in July 2026, compared with NPR 6.1925 billion during the same month a year earlier, representing growth of 12.93 percent.
Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company ranked second, collecting NPR 3.9927 billion in premiums in July 2026. Its business surged by 820.16 percent compared with the previous year, when it had collected only NPR 433.3 million in premiums.
National Life Insurance collected NPR 2.9131 billion in premiums, with its business growing by 20.65 percent. Himalayan Life Insurance collected NPR 2.2941 billion, representing growth of 13.11 percent.
LIC Nepal collected NPR 2.1415 billion in premiums, up 4.98 percent from the previous year. Similarly, SuryaJyoti Life Insurance collected NPR 1.5179 billion, recording growth of 21.90 percent.
Asian Life Insurance collected NPR 1.1111 billion in premiums, with its business growing by 17.14 percent. Citizen Life Insurance collected NPR 960.1 million, an increase of 12.11 percent.
Likewise, IME Life Insurance collected NPR 909.4 million in premiums, representing growth of 35.63 percent. Sanima Reliance Life collected NPR 854.3 million, recording growth of 18.73 percent.
Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life collected NPR 761.1 million in premiums. Reliable Nepal Life collected NPR 706.6 million, with its business increasing by 21.46 percent.
Similarly, MetLife collected NPR 602.8 million in premiums, up 11.64 percent. Sun Nepal Life collected NPR 466.9 million, recording growth of 27.85 percent.
