Life Insurers’ First Premium Income Rises 37.87% in July
Kathmandu — The Nepal Insurance Authority has released the first-month statistics for life insurance companies for the current fiscal year 2026/27(2083/84). According to the data, insurers’ first premium income increased by 37.87 percent.
In the first month of fiscal year 2025/26(2082/83), the 14 life insurance companies had collected NPR 327.2479 million in first premium income. In July of the current fiscal year, their first premium income increased to NPR 451.1816 million.
Nepal Life Insurance led the market in first premium income during the first month of the current fiscal year. According to the data, the company collected NPR 135.96 million in first premium income in July, an increase of 30.85 percent compared with the same period last fiscal year.
National Life Insurance ranked second, collecting NPR 53.22 million in first premium income. The company’s first premium income increased by 25.59 percent compared with the previous year.
SuryaJyoti Life Insurance’s first premium income increased by 41.69 percent to NPR 32.28 million, while Himalayan Life’s rose by 28.27 percent to NPR 30.53 million. Citizen Life Insurance recorded a 18.99 percent increase, with first premium income reaching NPR 29.76 million.
Similarly, IME Life Insurance’s first premium income increased by 66.92 percent to NPR 25.49 million. Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company recorded a sharp 498.89 percent increase, with first premium income reaching NPR 24.89 million. In July of the previous fiscal year, the company had collected NPR 4.156 million in first premium income.
During the review period, Life Insurance Corporation Nepal’s first premium income increased by 10.16 percent to NPR 23.52 million. Reliable Nepal Life Insurance recorded a 31.37 percent increase to NPR 19 million, while Asian Life Insurance’s first premium income rose by 24.94 percent to NPR 18 million.
