Non-Life Insurance Sector Shows Strong Growth as More Than 3 Million Policies Sold Last Year
Kathmandu — Nepal’s 14 non-life insurance companies sold a total of 3,001,814 insurance policies in fiscal year 2025/26, according to their fourth-quarter financial statements. The number of policies increased by 244,140 from 2,757,674 policies sold by the end of fiscal year 2024/25.
United Ajod Insurance led the market in terms of policies sold, issuing 419,526 policies by the end of June 2026. This represents an increase of 120,237 policies from the previous fiscal year. Himalayan Everest Insurance ranked second with 355,509 policies, an increase of 75,081 from the previous year. Shikhar Insurance ranked third with 336,002 policies, while Neco Insurance ranked fourth with 305,983 policies.
Siddhartha Premier Insurance sold 270,685 policies, down by 28,290 from the previous fiscal year. Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance issued 269,998 policies, recording a significant increase of 116,294. IGI Prudential Insurance sold 237,708 policies, followed by NLG Insurance with 223,911 and Nepal Insurance with 222,741 policies.

Among the remaining companies, Sanima GIC Insurance issued 143,028 policies, while Prabhu Insurance sold 114,613. Oriental Insurance issued 48,946 policies. Rastriya Beema Company sold 32,343 policies, while National Insurance had the lowest number of policies at 20,821.
Overall, the number of policies sold by Nepal’s 14 non-life insurance companies increased despite business contractions at some insurers. Strong growth at leading companies such as United Ajod, Sagarmatha Lumbini and Himalayan Everest contributed to the overall increase in policy sales, indicating expansion in the non-life insurance business compared with the previous fiscal year.
