Government Dismisses Insurance Authority Chairman Sharad Ojha

Kathmandu – The government has formally dismissed the suspended Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority, Sharad Ojha, less than six months after his appointment.
According to a source close to the Cabinet, the decision was made at a Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening, following the submission of an inquiry report. The investigation committee, chaired by former High Court judge Krishna Giri, had presented its findings to the government on Sunday.
Ojha faced scrutiny over allegations of abuse of authority, including forging an experience certificate. Questions were also raised regarding his professional qualifications, with a related case currently pending before the Supreme Court.
He was appointed as Chairman of the Insurance Authority on Falgun 12, 2081 (February 24, 2025). However, on Chaitra 17 (March 30), Advocate Indira Dhamala filed a writ petition challenging his eligibility for the post.
