Historical Participation of Nepali Representatives in MDRT Global Conference

Kathmandu – More than 19,000 insurance and financial professionals from around the world participated in this year’s Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Global Conference, a prestigious platform that recognizes excellence, discipline, and service in the financial and insurance sector.
This year marked a proud moment for Nepal as seven representatives were selected to join the global gathering. Notably, six of them represented Himalayan Life Insurance Company — a rare achievement that has elevated both the company’s reputation and the profile of Nepal’s insurance industry on the international stage.
The Nepali delegates included Rabindra Timalsina, Shristi Basnet, Suju Thapa, Furu Maya Tamang, Shanti Sharma, and Bimal Dhakal from Himalayan Life Insurance, along with one additional representative from Nepal.
MDRT membership is regarded as a symbol of reaching the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and professional success. For Nepal, a relatively small market with limited resources and low financial awareness, securing a place at MDRT highlights the growing capacity and global competitiveness of its insurance professionals.
According to industry experts, such participation brings more than just individual recognition. It reflects the collective progress of Nepal’s insurance sector, offering opportunities for knowledge exchange, exposure to new technologies, and insights into customer-focused service strategies. These learnings are expected to further strengthen transparency, service quality, and innovation in Nepal’s insurance market.
Despite operating in a challenging environment — marked by limited income sources and lack of awareness — Nepali professionals have demonstrated that persistence and hard work can turn obstacles into opportunities. As insurance continues to evolve as both a profession and a service to society, its achievement at MDRT stands as a testament to Nepal’s potential in the global financial landscape.
