Seema Dangal’s Inspiring Journey with Citizen Life Insurance

Kathmandu – Life rarely unfolds in straight lines — it twists, surprises, and reshapes those who dare to follow its uncertain bends. For Seema Dangal, born in the serene town of Panauti, Kavre, those bends took her from the rhythm of farming life to the disciplined world of insurance — a transition that redefined her purpose and identity.
Growing up in a modest household, Seema always valued hard work and sincerity. After completing her SLC from Kushadevi Secondary School in 2063 BS, she devoted herself to her family, farming, and community. Her days revolved around her children, the fields, and the small but fulfilling life she had built. Yet, behind her calm routines lived a restless mind — one that yearned to do more, to contribute beyond the boundaries of her village.
That chance appeared unexpectedly when Subin Kuintel, Branch Manager of Citizen Life Insurance Thali Branch, introduced her to the idea of working as an insurance agent. At first, she hesitated. The world of insurance seemed distant — full of terms, targets, and technicalities. But her courage outweighed her fear.
“When I first became an agent, I was scared,” Seema recalls. “But I had greater courage, faith, and determination to leave after being successful. On the first day of getting my agent license, I surprised everyone by insuring the lives of 10 people.”
That single day changed her life’s trajectory. What started as a trial soon became a passion. Seema began attending Citizen Life’s training programs, gaining confidence and learning how insurance could change lives — not just financially, but emotionally. From a soft-spoken mother and farmer, Seema evolved into one of Citizen Life Insurance’s most promising Agency Managers, earning trust through her simplicity, sincerity, and clear understanding of the financial needs of rural families.
“Citizen Life also offers claims for 20 fatal diseases,” she explained. “I had insured a person in my village who had paid only two installments. Later, when his health began to deteriorate, I assisted him in filing a claim, and the payment was completed within seven days. After that, people in my village began to think more positively about insurance. That moment became very important for me. If there is something greater than money in this world, it is the happiness of others — I have given that happiness.”
That experience anchored her belief in her profession — that insurance is not about selling policies, but about delivering security when it’s needed most.
Balancing her family life and professional responsibilities, Seema continues to thrive with the strong support of her husband and family. She says the profession gives her both flexibility and independence. In just two years, Seema has insured more than 80 individuals across Kavre, Nagarkot, and Kathmandu, focusing on tailor-made policies that fit each client’s needs and capacity. Her thoughtful approach has made her a trusted name in her community.
In recognition of her outstanding work, Seema was selected for the Gold Club from the Thali Branch in Fiscal Year 2081/82, an honor that fueled her motivation further.
“Being selected for various clubs and receiving recognition gave me more enthusiasm to move forward,” she shared.
Beyond her professional achievements, Seema remains deeply rooted in social work. She has long advocated for women’s rights and actively helps villagers facing financial challenges. Her empathetic nature, combined with her experience in the financial sector, has made her not just an agent but a mentor and role model for many women in her village.
She credits Citizen Life Insurance for much of her growth. “The company truly values its agents,” she says. “They provide motivational training, organize tours, and introduce new opportunities. The support from Citizen Life has completely transformed my personality and confidence.”
“Farming taught me patience,” Seema smiles softly. “Insurance taught me purpose.”
And with that balance of patience and purpose, Seema Dangal continues her journey — cultivating dreams instead of crops, and harvesting trust instead of grains — as one of Citizen Life’s brightest examples of what courage, opportunity, and determination can truly achieve.
