Applications Open for Chairperson of Nepal Insurance Authority

Kathmandu — The recommendation committee formed to nominate candidates for appointment as Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority has officially invited applications.

The committee published a public notice on May 27, 2026 calling for eligible candidates to apply for the position.

Under Section 8(1) of the Insurance Act, 2022, applicants must hold at least a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in one of the following fields: insurance, monetary studies, banking, commerce, engineering, management, public administration, statistics, mathematics, economics, or law.

Applicants must also possess a minimum of five years of senior-level managerial experience in a relevant field.

In addition to academic and professional qualifications, candidates must satisfy several eligibility requirements. Applicants must demonstrate high moral character, must not be disqualified under Section 8(3) of the Insurance Act, 2022, and must meet the standards outlined in the Criteria for Appointment and Nomination of Officials and Members of Public Bodies under the Ministry of Finance, 2016. Candidates must be at least 30 years old and not older than 65 years.

The notice further states that applicants must not have been convicted of offenses related to corruption, money laundering, human trafficking, narcotics trading, crimes involving archaeological objects or protected wildlife, or other criminal offenses involving moral turpitude.

Applicants who have previously been placed on a legal blacklist must have completed at least three years since removal from that list. Candidates must also not hold permanent residency in a foreign country, must not currently be engaged in government contract work through a public body, and must be of sound mental health.

Qualified and interested individuals are required to submit their personal details and all prescribed supporting documents to the Secretariat of the Recommendation Committee, located at the Financial Sector Management and Corporation Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, no later than office hours on June 2, 2026.
