Suspended Nepal Micro Insurance CEO Mrigendra Nath Rimal Arrested

Kathmandu — The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Mrigendra Nath Rimal, the suspended Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Micro Insurance, in connection with alleged offences under the Insurance Act, 2022 and the Securities Act, 2007.

Rimal had been listed as an absconding defendant in a case filed by the Government of Nepal following complaints lodged by the Nepal Insurance Authority and the Securities Board of Nepal. The case also names Deepak Bhatt and others as co-defendants.

According to the CIB, Rimal was arrested on Thursday from Sifal, Ward No. 7 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

He has been produced before the Kathmandu District Court to obtain a remand for further investigation.

Rimal was serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Micro Insurance before being suspended amid the ongoing investigation.
