Rastriya Beema Company’s Profit Falls 19% as Premium Income Declines

Kathmandu — State-owned Rastriya Beema Company Limited has reported a 19.46% decline in net profit for fiscal year 2025/26, according to its fourth-quarter financial results.

The company posted a net profit of NPR 344.4 million for the year, down from NPR 427.6 million in the previous fiscal year. Earnings per share fell correspondingly, to NPR 129.18 from NPR 160.38.

Lower investment and other income, combined with a decline in net insurance premium income, weighed on the company’s profitability. Income from investments and other sources dropped 22% to NPR 461.2 million, from NPR 591.8 million a year earlier.

Total income fell from NPR 1.05 billion to NPR 912 million, while total expenses rose 6.16% to NPR 503.7 million.

Net insurance premium income declined 6.41% to NPR 231.6 million. Despite the fall in business income, however, the company’s insurance fund grew 14.44% to NPR 3.35 billion.

The catastrophe fund rose 2.49% to NPR 709.4 million, and the reserve fund increased 4.86% to NPR 2.60 billion. Claim payments, meanwhile, declined 7.75% to NPR 301 million during the review period.

The company also saw a sharp drop in policies issued, with just 32,343 issued during the year compared with 159,671 in the previous fiscal year. Commission expenses paid to agents fell sharply as well, down 63.95%.

Rastriya Beema Company currently has a paid-up capital of NPR 266.6 million, with a net worth per share of NPR 6,407.05.
