LIC Nepal Profit Rises 28% as Insurance Fund Crosses NPR 146 Billion

Kathmandu — Life Insurance Corporation (Nepal) Limited (LIC Nepal) has reported a 28.45% increase in net profit for the fiscal year 2024/2025 (2081/82), with most key financial indicators showing growth.

The company earned a net profit of NPR 405.7 million, up from NPR 315.8 million in the previous fiscal year 2025/2026 (2082/83). Higher income contributed to the increase in profit.

Net insurance premium income rose 6.65% to NPR 21.15 billion from NPR 19.83 billion. Total income also increased 3.52% to NPR 33.47 billion from NPR 32.33 billion.

The company’s net benefits and claim payments increased from NPR 26.84 billion to more than NPR 27.86 billion. Total expenses also rose 3.83% to NPR 30.69 billion from NPR 29.56 billion.

Earnings per share increased to NPR 7.38 from NPR 5.74. LIC Nepal’s life insurance fund grew 10.45% to NPR 146.81 billion from NPR 132.93 billion.

The company’s net worth per share stood at NPR 177.87, while its solvency margin ratio remained unchanged at 1.61%.

LIC Nepal has paid-up capital of NPR 5.5 billion. Its catastrophe fund increased 5.54% to NPR 773.5 million, while its reserve fund declined 23% to NPR 2.66 billion.

The company’s investment portfolio also expanded, rising from NPR 117.34 billion to NPR 131.49 billion during the review period.
