MetLife’s Insurance Fund Grows 14%, but Profit Falls 55%
Kathmandu — MetLife Insurance Company has reported mixed financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025/26. The company recorded growth in its insurance business and funds, while net profit declined sharply.
According to the company’s unaudited financial statements, its life insurance fund grew 14.30% to NPR 33.29 billion during the review period, up from NPR 29.13 billion a year earlier.
Net insurance premium income also increased 9.54% to NPR 6.58 billion from NPR 6.01 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Despite the growth in business, the company’s net profit fell 55.29%. MetLife earned NPR 379.2 million in net profit in the last fiscal year, down from NPR 848.2 million a year earlier.

The rise in expenses and claim payments put pressure on profitability. Total expenses increased 14% to NPR 8.82 billion, while total claim payments rose 12.93% to NPR 3.33 billion.
The company’s catastrophe fund increased 6.19% to NPR 649.9 million, while its reserve fund declined 9.53% to NPR 2.59 billion. MetLife’s solvency ratio remained stable at 2.08.
