Insurance Interaction with Godaita Municipality of Sarlahi

Kathmandu : An interaction has been made with Godaita Municipality of Sarlahi regarding insurance. The interaction program was organized by Madhesh Province Office of Nepal Insurance Authority on 7 November.

Nepal Insurance Authority Madhesh Province Office has conducted the interaction and discussion program with the local government regarding Nepal Insurance Authority in the meeting hall of Godaita municipality according to the annual program of the financial year 2023.23.

Head of Madhesh Province Office of Nepal Insurance Authority Kusum Sharma presided over the event as the chief guest of Ward President of Godaita Municipality Ward No. 11 Bijay Prasad Yadav.

The ward presidents of various wards and the head of the agriculture branch of the municipality, Mahendra Prasad Kushwaha, were present as guests.

The event was conducted by Assistant Director of Nepal Insurance Authority Anish Timilsina and the welcome speech was given by Sagar Acharya of the Authority.

About 90 person participated in the program, including people’s representatives from various wards, members of the executive committee, municipal employees, leading farmers, representatives of banks and financial institutions, representatives of branch offices of insurance companies and people from women’s groups.

Kusum Sharma, head of the state office, gave a presentation about insurance and insurance authority in the program. In the discussion program after the presentation, the participants raised questions about the insurance of agriculture and different crops, determining the sum assured of life insurance and calculating the insurance fee.

During the discussion, agents and companies explained to the participants about the facilities while selling insurance, but complained about the lack of facilitation in terms of claim payment and other insurance service delivery. The farmers objected to the system of not getting payment of claims in case of theft and suggested necessary amendments in this regard.

Similarly, some participants complained that they did it easily while getting insurance but did not get the claim payment due to small problems during the claim payment. In addition, according to some participants, the agents gave wrong information about the insurance, and because the role of the agents was not effective, they suggested for the necessary instructions.

In the event, the representatives of Life Insurance and Non-Life Insurance provided information about insurance in the local language. In the program, Mahendra Prasad Kushwaha, the head of agriculture branch of Godaita municipality, gave detailed information about the current agricultural standards and requested to take insurance, stating that insurance is really necessary for every citizen.

Chief guest of the program, ward no. The ward president of 11 expressed that insurance is really necessary and everyone should insure their lives and their properties. He thanked Nepal Insurance Authority Madhesh Province Office for contributing to increase public awareness about insurance at the local level.

At the end of the program, Kusum Sharma, Head of the Madhesh Province Office of the Authority, expressed the view that the Authority will address the suggestions received from the participants in the coming days and that the Insurance Authority is ready at any time for the insurance-related assistance and consultation required by the municipality.

He also asked the representatives of the insurance company to coordinate the necessary visits to the municipality from time to time, requesting to understand the service conditions and get the receipt after paying the insurance fee.
