Life Insurance Companies has increased their Investment in Share Market

About 88 Billion Rupees Invested in Share & Debentures

Kathmandu : Nepal Insurance Authority data shows that the investment of life insurance companies in shares and debentures has increased this fiscal year. In the first quarter of the current financial year, life insurance companies have invested 88 billion rupees in shares and debentures. By the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, life insurance companies had invested 78 billion Rupees. Compared to the last fiscal year, life insurance companies have increased their investment in the stock market.

According to the authority, life insurance companies have invested 88.41 billion rupees out of a total amount of 612 billion Rupees in the insurance sectors. Insurance companies have invested 42 billion rupees in shares and debentures of banks and financial institutions of categories (a), (b) & (c) listed companies. The companies have also invested 21 billion rupees in the bonds of other financial apart from

the categories companies.

Similarly, life insurance companies have invested 10 billion rupees in ordinary shares of public companies, while they have invested 9 billion rupees in founder shares of other companies.

Life insurance companies have invested 4 billion rupees in savings bonds of the federal government, state government, local government or Central Bank of Nepal. In addition, life insurance companies have invested 340 million rupees in the shares of companies that are not listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange.
