Nepal Insurance Authority and Actuarial Society of Nepal Sign MoU for Collaborative Efforts in Actuarial Science
Kathmandu – The Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) and the Actuarial Society of Nepal (ASN) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in actuarial science, marking a significant milestone for Nepal’s insurance sector.
The MoU was signed by NIA President Surya Prasad Silwal and ASN President Prechya Mathema at a formal ceremony held at the NIA’s central office in Kupandol, Lalitpur. The agreement establishes a framework for collaborative efforts to advance actuarial science and strengthen the technical and professional foundations of the insurance industry in Nepal.
Under the partnership, the two organizations will jointly conduct research and studies, organize capacity-building initiatives such as training programs, workshops, and conferences, and facilitate the exchange of expertise and resources. These efforts aim to address critical industry challenges and foster innovation within the sector.
NIA President Silwal, emphasized the importance of actuarial expertise in ensuring the sustainability of the insurance market whereas on the other hand, the ASN President Mathema highlighted the MoU as a pivotal step towards bridging knowledge gaps and promoting the growth of actuarial science in Nepal.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including NIA Directors Susil Dev Subedi and Pujan Dhungel, who reiterated the significance of the partnership in enhancing the sector’s resilience and professionalism.
