Twelve Candidates Compete for Chairmanship of Nepal Insurance Authority
Kathmandu – A total of twelve individuals have submitted applications for the post of chairman of the Insurance Authority, the regulatory body overseeing Nepal’s insurance sector. According to the Ministry of Finance, the application process, which concluded on last Friday, attracted significant competition for the coveted position.
Finance Ministry spokesperson Mahesh Bhattarai confirmed that the number of applications and emphasized the intense competition for the role. Among the applicants is former chairman of the Insurance Committee, Chiranjibi Chapagain, who previously held a prominent position in the regulatory sector.
Similarly, Kamal Raj Regmi, a current director at the Insurance Authority, has applied for the position, holding registration number 1. Former secretary Ram Sharan Pudasaini and Damodar Basaula, a former executive at the Health Insurance Board has also entered the race.
Interestingly, several individuals previously rumored to be in contention for the position chose not to apply. The selection process is expected to be rigorous as the candidates vie for a role that will play a key part in shaping the regulatory framework of Nepal’s insurance sector.
The Ministry of Finance has yet to announce the next steps for the selection process.
