Sharad Ojha Assumes Office as Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority

Kathmandu – Sharad Ojha has officially assumed office as the chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority following his appointment by the government. The Cabinet meeting held on Monday, under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, decided to appoint Ojha for a four-year term in accordance with Subsection (9A) of Section 8 of the Insurance Act 2079.
Ojha took the oath of office and secrecy at the Ministry of Finance today. The oath was administered by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel. Following the ceremony, Ojha formally took charge of the Nepal Insurance Authority at its office in Kupandol.
His appointment follows a recommendation from the Chairman Selection Committee, which had shortlisted three candidates: former government secretary Ramsharan Pudasaini, Sharad Ojha, and Dr. Damodar Basaula. Among them, Ojha was chosen to lead the regulatory body overseeing Nepal’s insurance sector.
Finance Ministry officials, including Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyaya and Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, congratulated Ojha and extended their best wishes for his tenure.
