500 Thousand Rupees Received as claim Amount of Insurance of 10 Thousand Rupees
Kathmandu : Channari Devi Luhar of Shikhar Municipality-6, Kot took a loan of 510 thousand Rupees without keeping any security deposit (collateral) in Baisakh month of 2080 B.S. When he took a loan from the Gopghat branch of Chimeki Micro-finance Institution, that micro-finance itself deducted the five-year insurance fee of Rs.10,837 from his money as an insurance.
A 43-year-old, Mrs. Luhar passed away due to a heart attack on 16th of Kartik, 2080 B.S. After her death, her family made an insurance claim. After making an insurance claim, the family of the deceased received an amount of 510 thousand rupees on Monday i.e 5th of Chaitra, 2080 B.S. The husband of the deceased, Kalu Luhar, took the said claim amount. The insurance amount was handed over to him in the witness of Shikhar Municipality Deputy Chief Sunita Rawal Jora.
Maya Kumari Ojha, manager of the Gopaghat branch, said that the Microfinance institution, which has received an international customer protection certificate, is providing compulsory insurance to all its customers (borrowers).
“We have our group members in different wards and tolls of the city,” Ojha said, “We have provided loans to the members of the group to run their businesses without any collateral. When taking a loan, together with the loan, we insure the borrower along with their guardian and in future, if such an incident occurs, we have a system to pay insurance claim payment equivalent to provided loan. Accordingly, we have provided insurance claim for the Luhar family member.”
