NEPSE Index Surges; Insurance Sector Stocks Rally
Kathmandu – On Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a notable rise, with the index climbing 38.81 points to close at 2755.47. This significant uptick was fueled by a strong performance in the insurance sector, where the share prices of all 26 listed companies turned green, bringing renewed optimism to investors.
The life insurance sub-index recorded an impressive 2.81% increase, adding 369.79 points to reach 13504.38. LIC Nepal emerged as the top performer in this category, with its share price soaring by 9.75%. Other significant increases included Citizen Life Insurance (4.06%), Reliable Nepal Life (2.58%), Sun Nepal Life (2.56%), and SuryaJyoti Life (2.29%), reflecting growing investor confidence in the life insurance sector.
Similarly, the non-life insurance sub-index rose by 1.1%, gaining 155.81 points to settle at 13262.91. Himalayan Everest Insurance led the category with a 1.94% increase, followed by gains in Rastriya Beema Company (1.76%), Shikhar Insurance (1.74%), Siddhartha Premier Insurance (1.65%), and Nepal Insurance (1.49%).
The two reinsurance companies listed on NEPSE also reported gains. Himalayan Reinsurance Company saw its share price rise by 0.58%, while Nepal Reinsurance Company posted a 0.62% increase.
