Former Chairman of Insurance Authority Dr. Prafulla Kumar Kafle Passes Away

Kathmandu — Dr. Prafulla Kumar Kafle, former Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority, has passed away. He was a prominent figure in Nepal’s financial and insurance sector.

Dr. Kafle served as the second chairman of the then Insurance Committee, now known as the Nepal Insurance Authority. He was appointed to the post on 20 Baisakh 2058 BS and served until 27 Shrawan 2059 BS (May 03, 2001 – Augusr 12, 2002). Before his tenure at the Insurance Committee, he had also served as the Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.

During his leadership, Dr. Kafle played a key role in laying the foundation for the regulation and supervision of Nepal’s insurance sector. His contributions are credited with shaping the early regulatory framework that continues to influence the sector today.
