Nepal Insurance Authority Begins Monthly Publication ‘Beema Pratibimba’

Kathmandu — In a move aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and informed policymaking in Nepal’s insurance landscape, the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) has officially commenced the monthly publication of an analytical statistical report titled ‘Beema Pratibimba’ (Insurance Reflection).
The publication offers a detailed analysis of key indicators shaping the insurance industry. It encompasses data related to the financial health of insurance companies, insurance access, premium collections, claims and settlements, policy issuance, investment details, and solvency ratios. In addition, the report includes information on operational infrastructure such as the number of branch offices and human resources across insurance companies.
According to NIA Chairman Sharad Ojha, the monthly edition publication has been introduced with the objective of creating a solid foundation for sector-wide transparency and policy direction. He stated that, this initiative is expected to serve as a valuable resource for insurers, researchers, policymakers, and the general public and the regular analysis will also assist in tracking progress, identifying challenges, and determining future policy needs in the sector.
The first edition includes consolidated data up to end-Chaitra (mid-April) of the current fiscal year. It captures detailed information on insurance policy issuance, premium income, claims paid, surrender values, expenditures, and other financial metrics. It also highlights major regulatory milestones and achievements of the Nepal Insurance Authority during the same period.
Furthermore, the publication outlines critical regulatory functions performed by the Authority, including on-site inspections, policy approvals, resolution of claims and complaints, and efforts to combat money laundering within the insurance sector.
