Life Insurers’ Premium Income Up 12.64%; IME Life and Citizen Life Lead Growth
Kathmandu – Life insurance companies operating in Nepal earned a total insurance premium of NPR 173.50 billion during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2025/26, according to data published by the Nepal Insurance Authority.
According to the data, the business of the country’s 14 life insurers grew by 12.64 percent compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. The companies had collected NPR 154.06 billion in premiums during the corresponding period of FY 2024/25, reflecting a notable expansion in insurance business.
Based on total premium income, Nepal Life Insurance and National Life Insurance remained the market leaders, while IME Life Insurance and Citizen Life Insurance posted the strongest growth rates.

Nepal Life Insurance retained the top position, increasing its premium income by 12.53 percent year-on-year to NPR 46.16 billion.
The second-ranked National Life Insurance expanded its business by 17.49 percent to NPR 22.21 billion, while LIC Nepal recorded a 7.20 percent increase, taking its premium income to NPR 18.48 billion.
Similarly, premium income at Himalayan Life Insurance rose 3.76 percent to NPR 15.79 billion, while Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company grew 17.93 percent to NPR 10.62 billion. SuryaJyoti Life Insurance increased its business by 11.28 percent to NPR 10.52 billion, Asian Life Insurance by 10.86 percent to NPR 8.71 billion, and Sanima Reliance Life Insurance by 12.56 percent to NPR 6.64 billion.
During the review period, IME Life Insurance posted the highest growth among all life insurers, with premium income surging 30.79 percent to NPR 6.10 billion.
Meanwhile, MetLife Nepal recorded a 10.12 percent increase to NPR 6.10 billion, Reliable Nepal Life Insurance grew 18.73 percent to NPR 5.41 billion, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance expanded by 14.88 percent to NPR 5.22 billion, and Sun Nepal Life Insurance registered a 2.59 percent rise to NPR 3.83 billion.
