Life Insurers’ First-Year Premium Income Rises 26.31%; Company-Wise Breakdown
Kathmandu – Nepal’s life insurance companies recorded a 26.31 percent increase in first-year premium income as of mid-June of the fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83), according to data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority.
The country’s 14 life insurers generated NPR 39.59 billion in first-year premiums during the review period, up from NPR 31.35 billion recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Nepal Life Insurance remained the market leader with NPR 10.17 billion in first-year premium income, followed by National Life Insurance with NPR 5.64 billion, LIC Nepal with NPR 2.99 billion, SuryaJyoti Life Insurance with NPR 2.81 billion, and Citizen Life Insurance with NPR 2.45 billion.
They were followed by IME Life Insurance, which earned NPR 2.27 billion in first-year premiums, Himalayan Life Insurance with NPR 2.25 billion, and Asian Life Insurance with NPR 2.12 billion.
Meanwhile, Reliable Nepal Life Insurance collected NPR 1.84 billion, Sanima Reliance Life Insurance NPR 1.82 billion, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Insurance NPR 1.61 billion, and MetLife Nepal NPR 1.45 billion in first-year premiums.
At the lower end of the ranking, Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company generated NPR 1.12 billion, while Sun Nepal Life Insurance earned NPR 1.08 billion in first-year premium income during the period.
