July 9th, 2025

Kathmandu — Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority, Sharad Ojha, has announced the annual policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, pledging its full implementation to bring transformative changes in the insurance sector.

Unveiling the policy on Tuesday, Chairman Ojha said the Authority is placing strong emphasis on public awareness, particularly by introducing insurance-related content into the national school curriculum. He stressed that educating students from an early age will help foster a culture of insurance literacy across the country. Additionally, insurance awareness campaigns will be conducted in remote regions, ensuring that even the most underserved communities gain access to vital insurance knowledge.

Ojha also highlighted that this year’s program is focused on making the insurance claim process more convenient and efficient for the insured. To ensure accountability and transparency, the supervision and inspection of insurance companies will be intensified throughout the year.

The policy also includes measures to strengthen the internal capacity of the Insurance Authority, along with the implementation of the Nepal Financial Reporting Standards (NFRS) system. These steps, Chairman Ojha noted, are aimed at reinforcing the regulatory framework and expanding the scope of insurance across the country.
