Non-life Insurance Premiums Cross Rs 8 Billion in Two Months

Kathmandu – Non-life insurance companies have collected more than Rs 8 billion in premiums in the first two months of the current fiscal year. According to data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, non-life insurers recorded a total business of Rs 8.12 billion. This represents a 4.92 percent increase compared to the same period last fiscal year, when companies had earned Rs 7.74 billion in premiums.

Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance secured the top position in terms of total premium income, generating Rs 894.4 million in business during the two-month period. However, its earnings were down by 11.63 percent compared to last year. Shikhar Insurance followed in second place, reporting Rs 848.2 million in premiums—a robust growth of 17.26 percent.

Siddhartha Premier Insurance, which earned Rs 773.3 million, posted a decline of 4.92 percent, while Himalayan Everest Insurance recorded a strong 18.16 percent growth, collecting Rs 711.7 million. NLG Insurance emerged as the top performer in terms of growth, with its premium income rising by 42.74 percent to Rs 687.5 million. United Ajod also posted a notable rise, reaching Rs 574.8 million in the same period.

Among other companies, IGI Prudential grew by 8.45 percent to Rs 629.1 million, The Oriental Insurance by 34 percent to Rs 595 million, Sanima GIC by 24 percent to Rs 493.7 million, and Nepal Insurance by 15.75 percent to Rs 368.2 million. Neco Insurance, however, registered a slight decline of 1.51 percent, earning Rs 581 million.

Some companies struggled to maintain momentum. National Insurance’s premium income fell by 6 percent to Rs 352 million, while Prabhu Insurance managed a moderate growth of 9.89 percent to Rs 323.2 million. The government-owned Rastriya Beema Company reported the steepest decline, with its business plummeting by 45.94 percent to Rs 298.1 million.
