“Unity of Agents is the Need of the Hour”: 8th National Convention of Insurance Agents’ Association Kicks Off
Kathmandu — The 8th National Convention (formerly the 3rd) of the Professional Insurance Agents’ Association Nepal, affiliated with the National Trade Union Federation, began on Friday with a grand inauguration in Basundhara. Held under the theme “Unity of Agents is the Need of the Hour,” the convention has brought together insurance agents from across the country.
The event is being led by the association’s president, Kedar Nath Adhikari, with active participation from senior vice president Narayan Dahal, general secretary Om Bahadur Khatri, and other key officials. A significant number of agents representing various insurance companies nationwide are in attendance.
Speaking at the event, Executive Director Subedi highlighted the crucial role insurance agents play in safeguarding the public’s property, liabilities, and lives. He noted that the insurance sector is among the fastest-growing segments within Nepal’s service industry and stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to make it more robust, reliable, and accessible. “We must move forward together to energize the insurance sector, the Authority will always stand by your side,” he said.

Pravin Raman Parajuli, president of the Life Insurers’ Association of Nepal, emphasized the importance of such conventions in strengthening the organization and professionalism of the insurance agent community. He underscored the need for unity among agents and called for continued efforts to make the profession more structured and professional. He also pointed out the need for targeted initiatives to attract younger generations to the insurance sector.
Parajuli further noted that despite Nepal’s large population, a significant portion of citizens still lacks access to insurance services. He stressed the importance of raising public awareness and encouraged agents to take an active role in educating people about the value of insurance and expanding its reach.
The event was attended by chief guest Sushil Dev Subedi, executive director of the Nepal Insurance Authority. Other notable attendees included Praveen Raman Parajuli, also CEO of Nepal Life Insurance; Kapil Kumar Dahal, CEO of Himalayan Life Insurance; Pranay Kumar, CEO of LIC Nepal; and Dipesh Babu Tiwari, deputy CEO of Reliable Nepal Life.
