Non-life Insurers’ Premium Income Rises 13.86%; United Ajod and NLG Lead Growth

Kathmandu — Nepal’s non-life insurance sector recorded a 13.86% year-on-year increase in premium income, reaching over NPR 36.58 billion by the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2025/26 (mid-April 2026).

The 14 non-life insurers in operation generated a combined gross premium of NPR 36.58 billion in the first nine months of the fiscal year, up from NPR 32.13 billion in the same period of 2024/25.

Shikhar Insurance and Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance led the market in terms of total premium income, while Himalayan Everest Insurance and NLG Insurance posted the fastest growth rates during the review period.

Shikhar Insurance remained the largest insurer, with premium income of NPR 4.80 billion, reflecting a 10.48% year-on-year increase. Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance reported NPR 3.83 billion, up 2.49%. Himalayan Everest Insurance recorded a strong 34.37% growth, with premiums reaching NPR 3.74 billion.

Siddhartha Premier Insurance posted NPR 3.12 billion in premium income, up marginally by 0.49%. IGI Prudential Insurance reported NPR 3.10 billion, marking a 13.47% increase. NLG Insurance saw a sharp rise of 41.04% to NPR 3.01 billion, while Neco Insurance grew 10.41% to NPR 2.72 billion. United Ajod Insurance also delivered robust growth of 38.26%, with premiums reaching NPR 2.56 billion.

Among the remaining insurers, The Oriental Insurance reported NPR 2.42 billion in premium income, up 12.63%. Sanima GIC Insurance recorded NPR 2.08 billion, a growth of 8.33%. Nepal Insurance posted NPR 1.66 billion, rising 7%, while Prabhu Insurance reached NPR 1.36 billion, up 4.48%. Rastriya Beema Company recorded NPR 1.14 billion, reflecting a 1.51% increase, and National Insurance posted NPR 980 million, up 11.57%.
