Disgrace of the Government as two Government-owned Insurance Companies Along with Health Insurance Board are Leaderless

Kathmandu: Three government-owned insurance companies are operating without CEOs at the moment. The Health Insurance Board under the Ministry of Health and the government-owned Rastriya Beema Company along with Rastriya Jewan Beema Company have become leadershipless at this time.

After the resignation of CEO Shekhar Baral in Rastriyas Beema Company, the position is vacant. Similarly, the oldest life insurance company in Nepal is without leadership after the transformation from Rastriya Jeewan Beema Company to a new company. Likewise, Damodar Basaula, who was removed from the Health Insurance Board for not performing well but still any new leader has not been appointed yet.

In this field, where there is direct intervention of the Ministry of Finance, there is a trend of political competition for the appointment. Officials of the Ministry of Finance say that it will take months for new appointments to be completed as the selection process will be done by the ministry, so it will take a few more months for the three positions.This is the first time that all government-owned sectors have become leaderless at a same time. Now senior employees in all three areas are being given the job of chief executive.

Mahesh Rimal is currently acting as the executive in the Rastriya Jeewan Beema Company, which is renamed but same as the Rastriya Beema Institute, whereas, Subas Koirala is handling the responsibility for the Rastriya Jeewan Beema Company. So far, the Ministry of Finance has not initiated any process to appoint three new Chief Executive Officers for the most Important Organization in Insurance Sector.

This kind of misuse of power by Ministry of Finance which has made three Government-Owned Organization leaderless directly shows that the is something big happening within these places. Citizens money are invested hugely in those organization but Government is unable to decide the CEOs. This activities is bringing disgrace on the ruling Government.
