Shock to Health Minister Basnet after suspension of Health Insurance Board Executive Director Basaula overturned by Supreme Court

Kathmandu : Supreme Court has given an interim order not to implement the ministerial decision to suspend Health Insurance Board Executive Director Dr. Damodar Basaula. An interim order has been issued by the joint bench of Judges Hari Prasad Phuyal and Sunil Kumar Pokharel in the name of the departmental ministry not to implement the decision to suspend Basaula. Health Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet decided to suspend Basaula for three months on last October/November.

The Ministry of Health and Population had given a three-day deadline and asked for an 11-point explanation to Executive Director of Health Insurance Board Dr. Basaula saying that Basaula had not fulfilled his official responsibilities. On 21st of September the ministry asked Basaula for an explanation based on a ministerial decision against his irresponsible work to submit an explanation within three days.

After the explanation, Minister Basnet decided to suspend him. He was suspended for 3 months according to the decision of the cabinet meeting on 11th of October. Due to this Dr. Basaula reached to the highest level against the ministerial decision on 3rd of November.
