Chairman Silwal’s Instructions to Insurance Companies not to Conduct Surveys beyond the Prescribed Limits

Kathmandu : Chairman of Insurance Authority of Nepal, Surya Prasad Silwal has said that insurance surveyors should work in the field in which they have expertise and the format of the survey report should be the same.

Addressing the interaction program organized by Nepal Insurance Authority on 30th of Falgun, 2080 B.S with insurance surveyors in Madhesh province in Birgunj, Chairman Silwal said that insurance companies should make a list of insurance surveyors according to location and assign surveyors from the same location for the survey.

President Silwal said, “Insurance surveyors’ association should make a code of conduct for insurance surveyors, surveyors should submit reports on time, surveyors who do not submit reports even for two or three years will be punished.”

Chairman Silwal made it clear that insurance companies cannot go beyond the specified limits to conduct the surveys.

Responding to the questions raised in the program, Dinesh Kumar Lal, director of Nepal Insurance Authority, said that those who do not have insurance surveyor’s license will be punished if they work as surveyors.

The insurance surveyors participating in the program, raised the question regarding the issues that they did not know how many surveyors are there in Madhesh Province, the insurance companies did not provide work even after two years of obtaining the license, the old surveyors were upset due to the classification of surveyors, there was no uniformity in the listing of surveyors in the companies, the company itself and those who did not have a license also work as surveyors.

Insurance surveyors in Madhesh Province participated in the program.

The program was conducted by Kusum Sharma, Head of Nepal Insurance Authority, Madhesh Province Office.
