From now, Private Sectors Companies’ Employee can take the Facility of Health Insurance
Kathmandu : From now on, the health insurance program will cover civil servants as well as private sector companies’ employees. It is already mentioned in the law of Health Insurance to be given to all the employees, not only Government employees but Private employees as well but implementation is still not seen.
The Health Insurance Board, which was previously giving priority to the general public, will from now on also include the ‘organized persons’ in the health insurance program. The Chairman of the Health Insurance Board, Dr.Gunaraj Lohani has said that any person who receives salary is considered as an ‘organized person’.
According to him, ‘organized people’ include teachers, civil servants, employees of institutes, Nepal Police, Nepal Army, people working in industries as well as in factories. Lohani said that it is mentioned in the law to provide compulsory health insurance to the organized people which is why, they are trying to implement it.
“In the regulations of the Health Insurance Board, it is mentioned that organized people will be included in the health insurance. Now the insurance board is trying to implement it,” Lohani said.
Executive Director of Health Insurance Board Dr.Damodar Basaula has also informed that the health insurance board will make health insurance mandatory for people in the organized sector from the year 2081 B.S.
The health insurance program, which was started as a pilot program in three districts of Baglung, Ilam and Udaipur since 2072 B.S, which will be expanded to all 77 districts. Dr.Basaula has informed that it is going to be brought to 753 local levels from this year.
So far, 7 million 771 thousand 883 people (26.54 percent) have joined the health insurance program. Of these, 68 percent has renewed their insurance already.
Dr. Basaula Informed that soon, everything will be converted into online and payment can be done through mobile as well.
If this Health Insurance is implemented mandatory then soon every employees working in all the companies or factories on salary will be benefited. But Government should bring easy and cashless process for claiming or providing the health facilities to the employees through the insurance.
