Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel Made Attention on Bringing Access to Insurance
Kathmandu : An interaction program on “Provincial Government and Insurance” was completed on 21st September at the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Bagmati Province, Hetauda, organized by Nepal Insurance Authority.
The chief guest in the program, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamkattel, has requested to move forward with cooperation for increasing public awareness and expanding access to insurance in remote areas of the province.Chief Minister Jamkattel has drawn attention to make the insurance claim payment process simple and easy to reach the citizens of rural areas.
Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority Surya Prasad Silwal has said that the authority is ready to cooperate with the provincial government for the formulation of provincial insurance policy as well as for increasing public awareness about insurance.Chairman Silwal suggested that it would be appropriate for the provincial government to reduce the amount of subsidy and insure the disadvantaged and marginalize groups. He also said that the insurance would help the economically disadvantaged groups and also contribute to poverty reduction.
In the Program, Sushil Dev Suvedi, director of Nepal Insurance Authority, gave a presentation on the overall topic of insurance.The participants in the program said that insurance companies should inform the citizens about insurance under corporate social responsibility and encourage them to take insurance. They said that provincial government should focus on providing insurance to the endangered trible people and insurance claim payment process should be made simple and easy in villages.
They pointed that Insurance company happily provide the non-life insurance policy but create delay and trouble while claiming those insurance, these tendency should be changed strictly and also insurance articles should be made simple and short.
In the program, Minister of Bagmati Province, Chief Secretary, Executive Director of Nepal Insurance Authority, Officials of Provincial Planning Commission, Secretaries of Provincial Ministries, Chief Executive Officers of Life Insurance Company and Non-Life Insurance Company were participated.If this program discussion came into act then it will help the people of villages in getting awareness about insurance and also helps to reduce the risk of villagers.
