Kathmandu – Marking the 57th Insurance Day, a group of business students from Pokhara University took to the streets of Lekhnath with a clear message that insurance is not just a policy, it’s a pillar of financial security. Under the banner of the “Study Group for Insurance, Banking and Investment (SGBI),” students organized a dynamic public awareness rally aimed at educating the community on the importance of insurance in everyday life.

With the slogan “Insurance for All, Basis for a Secure Future,” the initiative featured a series of engaging activities including street dramas, music, and placard campaigns. The event began with a symbolic inauguration by Dr. Srijan Gyawali, Director of the School of Business, who signed a banner within the college premises to officially kick off the awareness drive.

The event was led by SGBI President Kusum Shrestha and coordinated by Secretary Anubhuti Ghimire, the rally saw participation from over 200 students who marched through key areas such as Khudi Bazaar and Power House. The team used creative performances and relatable storytelling to highlight the dangers of living without insurance and the security it provides during unexpected financial hardships.

The street play performed during the rally struck an emotional chord with spectators, portraying real-life consequences of financial crises that arise in the absence of insurance. The drama underlined how timely coverage can protect individuals and families from devastating loss.

Community members, insurance professionals, and local leaders joined the students in their march, turning the rally into a community-wide movement. The awareness drive emphasised that insurance is more than a financial product but also a crucial tool for risk management and future planning.

SGBI, which was formed by students specialising in BBA-BI and BBA Finance, has expressed commitment to continuing such outreach programs focused on financial literacy. The group aims to organize additional activities throughout the year to further educate citizens on insurance, banking, and investment.
