Life Insurance Sector Crosses Rs 139.3 Billion in Premium Collection, Nepal Life Maintains Lead

Kathmandu — The life insurance sector in Nepal has witnessed significant momentum this fiscal year, with companies collectively earning over Rs 139.36 billion in insurance premiums by the end of Baisakh (mid-May). This figure reflects growing public confidence in life insurance products and services, as well as the continued efforts of insurers to expand their market reach.
At the forefront of this achievement is Nepal Life Insurance Company, which has managed to bring in the highest premium income among all players. By the end of the month, Nepal Life collected an impressive Rs 36.59 billion in insurance business. Following behind is National Life Insurance Company, which generated a total of Rs 17.20 billion in premiums, while LIC Nepal stood in third place, having collected Rs 15.57 billion during the same period.
Other notable performers include Himalayan Life Insurance with Rs 13.79 billion in business, Suryajyoti Life at Rs 8.53 billion, and Asian Life Insurance with Rs 7.14 billion in premium income. Citizen Life Insurance managed to earn Rs 5.68 billion, while Sanima Reliance Life secured Rs 5.33 billion. MetLife contributed Rs 4.98 billion to the total, followed by IME Life at Rs 4.19 billion, Reliable Nepal Life at Rs 4.14 billion, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life at Rs 4.10 billion, and Sun Nepal Life Insurance at Rs 3.41 billion.
