With the Suspension of the Executive Director of the Health Insurance Board, 5 more Members Collectively Resigned

Kathmandu :  Executive Director of Health Insurance Board Dr. Damodar Baseula was suspended from his position. Due to which there is prediction that Health Insurance Board is going to be collapsed as five more board members have collectively resigned.Just a few days ago, the executive director of the insurance board ,Damodar Baseula was suspended.

Health Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet appointed the joint secretary of the Ministry of Health as acting director of the board just the other day and Madan Kumar Upadhaya was given the responsibility. Five members of the Health Insurance Board resigned collectively the day after the appointment of the Acting Director.

On 17th October 2023 A.D,Tuesday, they submitted a collective resignation letter to Health and Population Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet. The members who collectively resigned are members of the board Dr. Suresh Tiwari, Dr. Tara Shah, Chandra Thapa, Tika Chapagai Bhattarai and Indrakala Rai.

They resigned stating that the board chairman has not been appointed for 9 months, the executive director has been suspended with the wrong intention of stealing the insurance program, and the necessary manpower has not been arranged. They also alleged that insurance has not been allowed to become autonomous.
