Due to Poor Quality 9 types of Dugs Banned
Kathmandu : The production of 9 types of drugs has been banned by DDA ( Department of Drugs Administration) due to the poor quality.
The name of drugs are as below :
* Linagliptin 2.5mg Tablet
* Linagliptin 10mg tablet
* Riveroxaban 5mg tablet
* Acelofenac 200mg (immediate release tablet)
* Acelofenac 300mg (dispersible/immediate
release/extended release/controlled release/sustained
release tablet)
*Linagliptin 2.5mg tablet and Metformin 500mg (extended release/sustained
release tablet)
*Linagliptin 2.5mg tablet and Metformin 850mg (extended release/sustained
release tablet)
* Linagliptin 5mg tablet and Metformin 500mg (immediate release tablet)
* Linagliptin 5mg tablet and Metformin 850mg (immediate release tablet)
A press release issued by DDA decided that the ban has been done with the joint coordination with Drug evaluation Committee as these drug are very harmful for the public health.
According to the spokeperson of DDA, Pramod K.C this ban will continue until any advisory committee take a call and as soon as the advisory committee also confirmed about the bad quality, it would be banned permanently.
These drugs were used to treat ulcers and diabetes but due to the ban now medicals sectors are instructed to use other medicine similar but approved by DDA.
Director General, Narayan Prasad Dhakal said that these medicine dosages are not fit for the treatment of patient due to wich they have decided to ban on these 9 drugs. These drugs were in the market since 3-4 years but from now it will be banned until furthur notice.
The WHO (World Health Organization) also agrees and recommend not to use these 9 types of drugs as they are harmful for normal as well as patient health.
