Stock Market Gains 19.97 Points, Insurance Sector Shows Positive Momentum
Kathmandu – On Monday, the NEPSE index rose by 19.97 points, reaching 2,758.04 by the close of trading. The stock market’s performance marked a positive trend, with noticeable gains in the insurance sector.
Both the Life Insurance Index and the Non-Life Insurance Index recorded modest increases, reflecting growing investor confidence in the insurance sector.
Life Insurance Index Sees Steady Growth
The Life Insurance Index climbed by 1.91 percent, or 255 points, to reach 13,639. Of the companies traded, nine saw gains, while two recorded losses, with Nepal Life Insurance maintaining a stable position.
LIC Nepal, which recently issued rights shares, led the growth with a 9.36-point increase in its share price. Citizen Life Insurance rose by 2.18 percent, and Sun Nepal Life Insurance followed with a 1.30 percent increase.
Non-Life Insurance Sector Makes Modest Gains
The Non-Life Insurance Index increased by 0.20 percent, or 27 points, settling at 13,216. Eight companies in this category reported gains, while four experienced declines.
Sanima GIC Insurance achieved the highest growth in share price, rising by 3.60 percent. United Ajod Insurance and IGI Prudential Insurance also performed well, with increases of 2.9 percent and 1.35 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Nepal Reinsurance and Himalayan Reinsurance saw slight declines in their share prices, contributing to a mixed performance within the sector.
