Supreme Court Summons Both Parties for Discussion on NIA Chairman Ojha’s Appointment

Kathmandu – The Supreme Court has summoned both parties for discussion regarding an interim order in the writ petition challenging the appointment of Sharad Ojha as the Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), the regulatory body overseeing the insurance sector.
A single bench of Supreme Court Justice Dr. Nahkul Subedi issued a show cause notice, instructing both sides to present their arguments on whether an interim order should be issued. The petition was filed by advocate Indira Dhamala, questioning the legitimacy of Ojha’s appointment and seeking legal intervention.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has directed the government to explain why a final order, as requested in the petition, should not be issued. The court will deliberate on the matter in the upcoming hearing, which will determine whether an interim order will be necessary in the case.
