Allianz Life Cyberattack Exposes Data of 1.1 Million Customers

August 19th, 2025

(Reuters) – A cyberattack on U.S. insurance firm Allianz Life in late July compromised the personal data of approximately 1.1 million customers, according to breach notification platform Have I Been Pwned.

The company had earlier disclosed that hackers gained unauthorized access to personal information affecting the majority of its 1.4 million U.S. customers, financial professionals, and select employees.

The stolen data reportedly includes names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. An Allianz Life spokesperson declined to provide further comment, citing an ongoing investigation. However, the insurer confirmed that it is offering two years of identity monitoring services and other dedicated resources to assist those affected.

The incident highlights the growing wave of cyberattacks targeting major corporations worldwide. Recently, U.S. healthcare giant UnitedHealth Group suffered the largest healthcare data breach in U.S. history, affecting 192.7 million individuals.

In July, Microsoft also reported a significant breach, with hackers infiltrating its on-premises SharePoint servers and compromising over 100 organizations, including U.S. government agencies.
