Kathmandu — The Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) has organized an interaction program focused on agriculture, livestock, and herb insurance with representatives from various insurance companies. The program, held on Wednesday at the Authority’s central office in Kupandol, Lalitpur, aimed to gather feedback and suggestions from insurers regarding the revision of the Agriculture, Livestock and Herbs Insurance Directive, 2079 BS, and the draft directive on damage assessors, which the Authority plans to introduce.

During the session, detailed discussions were held on the revised draft of the directive and the newly proposed guideline for damage assessors. Participants also shared their insights on the current operation of the Agricultural Insurance Real-Time Software (ALIS), highlighting challenges faced in its implementation and suggesting ways to enhance its effectiveness.

Speaking at the event, Sushil Dev Subedi, Executive Director of the Nepal Insurance Authority, urged the insurers to provide practical and constructive suggestions, emphasizing that the Authority’s goal is to make the revised directive more effective and inclusive.

“The Authority is preparing to bring a directive on loss assessors for the first time, and we look forward to incorporating genuine feedback from insurers,” Subedi stated. He added that the final version of both directives will be completed after integrating the recommendations received from the stakeholders.

Directors of the Nepal Insurance Authority attended the interaction program, employees of the Agricultural Insurance Branch, and heads of agricultural departments from non-life insurance companies.
