MetLife and Ncell Launch Insurance-Linked Data Packs to Promote Financial Inclusion
Kathmandu – In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Ncell and MetLife Nepal have jointly introduced a new service called “Data along with Life Insurance”, allowing customers to access both mobile data and insurance coverage through a single package.
Under this innovative plan, Ncell users can choose between two affordable packages that combine data usage with term life insurance and critical illness insurance benefits.
The first package, priced at Rs 99 (including taxes), offers 100 MB of data valid for 3 days, along with term life insurance worth Rs 2 lakh and critical illness insurance of the same amount.
The second package, priced at Rs 39, provides 100 MB of data for 3 days, coupled with term life and critical illness coverage worth Rs 50,000 each.
Both insurance plans remain valid for 30 days from the date of purchase. Customers can easily subscribe through the Ncell App by selecting their preferred package and completing a short insurance form. The life insurance coverage activates immediately upon form submission, while critical illness coverage begins after a 30-day waiting period.
“We are very happy to partner with MetLife Nepal to provide insurance protection services to customers across the country,” said Upang Dutt, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Ncell. “This collaboration also reflects our social commitment to reach grassroots communities and bring meaningful value to our customers.”
Similarly, Arun Bahadur Basnet, Chief Distribution Officer at MetLife Nepal, remarked, “At MetLife Nepal, we believe that security is a right, not a privilege. Through this partnership, we aim to give families across Nepal affordable and convenient access to protection, even through small and short-term data purchases.”
According to the companies, the collaboration is designed to make insurance more accessible, especially for people in rural and underserved areas. By integrating digital services with micro-insurance, the initiative aims to support Nepal’s progress toward financial inclusion and social protection.
