Sanjeev Jha, general manager of DDC, said that a proposal has been made to sell dairy products to Patna Dairy in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Tibet. “External markets for dairy products are being sought so as not to disrupt the business cycle of the market, farmers and institutions,” Jha said, “We have directly contacted the private sector in some countries and sent proposals. We have also drawn the attention of the ministry and the government through diplomatic channels to ensure the market.

According to the institute, now SMG, butter, ghee and cheese products can be exported from Nepal. Currently, the ghee produced by DDC is being exported to the markets of Japan, America and Europe. Officials of DDC say that 5,000 kg of ghee is exported to Japan alone every month.

But the consumption of DDC milk products in the Nepali market has decreased by 15 percent. It has decreased by 9 percent in Kathmandu Valley and by 14 percent outside.

According to the institute, 45,000 to 50,000 liters of milk has to be converted into powder and butter daily, which has a capital hold of more than 600 million.
