Development Banks’ Profit Surges 49%: Garima Leads, Muktinath Follows; Lumbini and Jyoti Post Aggressive Growth
Kathmandu — National-level development banks have collectively earned over Rs. 5.5 billion in profit within nine months.
The eight operating national-level development banks earned a total profit of Rs. 5.50 billion in the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2025/26. This marks a 49.04% increase compared to the same period in fiscal year 2024/25, when the sector had posted a profit of Rs. 3.69 billion.
Garima Development Bank topped the list in terms of profit. Over the nine-month period, it earned Rs. 1.048 billion, up 42.91% year-on-year.
Muktinath Development Bank secured second place, with its profit rising 30% to Rs. 942.6 million.

By the end of the third quarter, Shine Resunga Development Bank recorded a 53.38% rise in profit to Rs. 788.4 million, while Jyoti Development Bank posted a 105% increase to Rs. 629.4 million. Kamana Sewa Development Bank’s profit rose 19.37% to Rs. 588.6 million.
Lumbini Development Bank stood out as the fastest-growing in percentage terms, with its profit surging by an extraordinary 1,028% year-on-year to Rs. 561.6 million.
Meanwhile, Shangrila Development Bank’s profit increased by 11.59% to Rs. 484.5 million, and Mahalaxmi Development Bank’s profit rose modestly by 5.36% to Rs. 459.9 million.
