14 Life Insurers’ Funds Surpass NPR 942 Billion, Established Players Remain Strong as Newcomers Gain Ground
Kathmandu — All 14 life insurance companies operating in Nepal have published their fourth-quarter financial statements for fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83). According to the reports, the combined life insurance fund grew by 16.76 percent year-on-year to NPR 942.64 billion, up from NPR 807.36 billion in the previous fiscal year 2024/25 (2081/82).
Nepal Life Insurance continued to maintain its dominance in the market, reporting the largest life insurance fund at NPR 273.56 billion, an increase of 17.04 percent. The company accounts for nearly 29 percent of the total market fund. LIC Nepal ranked second with NPR 146.81 billion, followed by National Life Insurance with NPR 103.71 billion. Together, these three companies hold a substantial share of the sector’s total insurance fund.

While established insurers continue to dominate in terms of fund size, newer life insurance companies are showing more aggressive growth. IME Life recorded the highest growth rate, with its insurance fund increasing by 39.40 percent to NPR 18.27 billion. Citizen Life also posted strong growth of 36.12 percent, taking its fund to NPR 27.03 billion. Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life, Reliable Nepal Life and Sanima Reliance Life likewise recorded growth of more than 30 percent, strengthening their presence in the market.
The insurance funds of other companies also recorded satisfactory growth. Himalayan Life increased its fund by 16.21 percent to NPR 89.42 billion, while the government-owned Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company’s fund reached NPR 71.48 billion. Similarly, SuryaJyoti Life, Asian Life and MetLife also recorded double-digit growth in their insurance funds.
