Non-Life Insurers’ Stock Market Investment Reaches NPR 5.45 Billion; State-Owned Insurer Leads, United Ajod Posts Strongest Growth
Kathmandu — Non-life insurance companies in Nepal have significantly expanded their investment in the capital market, increasing their exposure to shares of companies listed across various sectors on the secondary market.
According to data provided by the Nepal Insurance Authority, non-life insurers had invested a total of NPR 5.44 billion in the stock market by the end of the third quarter of the current fiscal year. This represents a 19.74 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, when total investment in the capital market stood at NPR 4.54 billion.
Among the insurers, state-owned Rastriya Beema Company and Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance emerged as the largest investors in listed companies’ ordinary shares during the review period.
Rastriya Beema Company invested approximately NPR 794.1 million in shares of various listed companies. Although the company did not significantly increase its investment compared to the previous year, it continued expanding its portfolio by purchasing shares of high-return companies across multiple sectors based on market conditions.

Similarly, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance invested NPR 773.6 million in ordinary shares of listed companies, marking a strong 54.30 percent increase in stock market investment compared to the previous fiscal year.
During the review period, Neco Insurance invested NPR 624.9 million in the stock market, while Siddhartha Premier Insurance invested NPR 585.5 million. Himalayan Everest Insurance purchased shares worth NPR 497.2 million, IGI Prudential Insurance invested NPR 477.9 million, and United Ajod Insurance invested NPR 471.5 million in listed companies.
Meanwhile, Nepal Insurance invested NPR 335.9 million in the stock market, while NLG Insurance’s investment stood at NPR 213 million.
In contrast, Sanima GIC Insurance, Shikhar Insurance, and Prabhu Insurance reduced their stock market investment compared to the previous fiscal year.
